Bible Workbench: Proper 18, September 6, 2009

Text:  Mark 7:24-37

Sir, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.  Today, this seems to me like an indictment of the people of Israel who are so careless of the food Jesus gives them that they let the crumbs drop to the dogs.  How am I, privileged as I am and always have been, letting crumbs fall to the floor?  What may those crumbs be?  Why am I so careless of them?  What have I lost through my carelessness?  Who may benefit by valuing what I have not?
