About this Blog

At the Workbench is a companion blog to BibleWorkbench, a lectionary-based life-centered biblical resource designed for small group youth and adult education in church and home, for individual study or as an aid to preachers. Each week, we post the text (taken from the Revised Common Lectionary) used for that week’s BibleWorkbench exploration, along with a selection from that week’s Reading Between the Lines. In addition, look for posts that highlight the intersections of the Bible, psychology, personal growth, and the world around us.

BibleWorkbench is It is published six times a year by the Educational Center in Charlotte, NC. Each issue of the BibleWorkbench contains eight or nine weekly study sessions, centering on a lectionary text and featuring a series of open-ended questions to enable a group or individual to enter deeply into the story in the text and reflect on how it connects with the world around them and with their own inner life. Each week also includes Parallel Readings taken from poetry, literature, and current news and Critical Background to enrich your engagement with the text.
